Noreversetranscription refers to a hypothetical biological process that would involve the synthesis of RNA from a DNA template, but with a key difference from normal transcription: the resulting RNA molecule would be a mirror image of the template strand, rather than a complementary sequence. In standard biological transcription, RNA polymerase reads a DNA template strand and synthesizes an RNA molecule with a complementary sequence, following the base pairing rules (A with U, T with A, C with G, G with C). This complementary RNA molecule then serves as the template for protein synthesis or has other functional roles.
In a hypothetical noreversetranscription process, the enzyme would not create a complementary strand. Instead, it would
