nimadir

Nimadir is an Uzbek indefinite pronoun meaning “something” or “anything.” It is used to refer to an unspecified thing or matter in both spoken and written Uzbek, and it appears in a wide range of contexts, from everyday conversation to formal prose. As a non-specific reference, nimadir allows the speaker to withhold or defer identification of the noun until later, or to discuss a general idea rather than a concrete item.

It functions as a pronoun and can serve as the subject or the object of a sentence. In narrative and description, nimadir enables general statements about events, sensations, or conditions without naming the thing involved. It is a stable, one‑word form and does not inflect for gender or number. In standard Uzbek, nimadir is common across registers, including journalism and literature. Examples include Nimadir bo'ldi (Something happened) and Nimadir yo'qoldi (Something disappeared).
