Detecting neutrons is more complex than detecting charged particles because they do not directly ionize matter. Detection typically relies on secondary particles produced when neutrons interact with specific materials, such as helium-3 or boron-10. Shielding against neutron radiation requires materials rich in hydrogen, like water or polyethylene, which can effectively slow down fast neutrons, making them easier to absorb.
