Nemesítése is a Hungarian term that translates to "nobilitation" or "granting of nobility." Historically, it referred to the process by which a monarch or sovereign would bestow noble titles upon individuals. This act was a significant prerogative of rulers and was often used to reward loyalty, military service, or distinguished contributions to the state or society.

The practice of nemesítése was deeply embedded in the feudal and aristocratic systems that characterized much of European history, including in Hungary. It involved a formal ceremony and the issuance of a patent or charter that legally recognized the recipient's new status. This status typically came with a range of privileges, such as land ownership, exemption from certain taxes, the right to bear arms, and participation in governance.
