naciekami

Naciekami is the instrumental plural form of naciek, a histopathological term that denotes the accumulation of inflammatory cells within tissue, i.e., an inflammatory infiltrate. In pathology reports, naciekami describes the presence and character of such infiltrates and is often combined with a descriptor naming the dominant cell type (for example naciekami limfocytarnymi, neutrofilowymi, plazmocytarnymi).

Composition and patterns: Infiltrates may be neutrophilic, lymphocytic, eosinophilic, plasmacytic or granulomatous, reflecting different etiologies. Patterns can be focal, multifocal or diffuse and may be perivascular, interstitial, or confined to specific structures. Neutrophilic nacieki are typical of acute bacterial infection; lymphocytic infiltrates are common in viral infections and autoimmune processes; eosinophilic infiltrates appear in parasitic infections or allergic responses; granulomatous infiltrates occur in chronic infections such as tuberculosis or fungal diseases and in sarcoidosis.

Clinical and diagnostic significance: The presence and type of naciekami provide information about inflammatory activity and disease mechanism. Histology uses light microscopy of stained sections (usually hematoxylin and eosin) and may employ immunohistochemistry to identify cell lineages (e.g., CD markers). The description of naciekami is part of broader morphological assessment, often alongside features like necrosis, edema, fibrosis, or granuloma formation, to support diagnosis and subsequent management.
