munros
Munro is a Scottish mountain that rises above 3,000 feet (914.4 meters). The term comes from Sir Hugh Munro, who in 1891 published the first comprehensive list of such peaks, known as Munro’s Tables. The list has been revised as surveying methods improved, and the number of official Munros has varied over time. Today there are around 280 named Munros, with additional tops that exceed 3,000 feet but are not classified as separate Munros.
