Multilateralset is not a standard term in mainstream mathematics or computer science. When it appears, it is usually as a neologism or in niche discussions to describe structures that integrate multiple relational aspects or criteria rather than a single membership concept.

One possible mathematical interpretation treats a multilateralset as a set X equipped with a family of binary relations {R_i} on X, where i ranges over an index set I. In this view, the emphasis is on multiple relations that can be analyzed simultaneously. For example, in a social or organizational context, R1 might model friendship, R2 collaboration, and R3 mentorship. Such a structure allows studying elements with respect to several criteria, taking intersections or unions of the relations, and exploring compatibility across layers.

In data modeling and network science, the term can describe a dataset or graph-like object with multiple layers or modalities. A node set S could be shared across layers, with each layer encoding a different type of connection or attribute. This aligns with multiplex or multilayer networks, where the same entities participate in diverse relations.

Relation to other concepts is important: multilateralset should not be confused with multisets, which permit repeated elements, nor with political or diplomatic uses of the word “multilateral.” It may instead function as a descriptive umbrella for structures that incorporate several relations or criteria for membership or relatedness.
