motines
A motín is a popular uprising or riot, typically occurring in response to social or political grievances. The term is most commonly associated with Spanish history, where such uprisings were frequent during periods of economic hardship or political oppression. Motines often arose from widespread discontent, such as high taxes, food shortages, or the actions of local authorities. Participants would gather in public spaces, sometimes demanding the removal of officials or changes in policy. While some motines resulted in temporary concessions or reforms, many were violently suppressed by the authorities. The term is used to describe a form of collective action by the populace against the established order.
