Moralisme refers to a philosophical stance or attitude that emphasizes morality as the primary or sole concern of human life. It is often characterized by a strong belief in the importance of moral principles and a desire to apply them to all aspects of existence, including art, politics, and social issues. Proponents of moralisme tend to see the world through a lens of right and wrong, good and evil, and believe that the ultimate purpose of human endeavors is to achieve moral perfection or uphold moral standards.

This perspective can manifest in various ways. In art, it might lead to a judgment of a work based on its perceived moral message or impact, rather than its aesthetic qualities.
