Monimoottoriset is Finnish for vehicles, machines or systems that use more than one engine. The term is primarily used in technical and engineering contexts and can describe aircraft, ships and road or rail vehicles equipped with multiple propulsion units. The main rationale for a multi-engine configuration is to provide greater power or redundancy, at the expense of increased weight, complexity and maintenance requirements.
