Other members include monazite-(La), monazite-(Nd), and monazite-(Y), distinguished by the dominant rare-earth element present. These minerals typically form small, prismatic crystals that are often rounded due to weathering. Their color can range from yellow to reddish-brown or even black. Monatsiitissa is relatively hard, with a Mohs hardness of 5 to 5.5, and possesses a vitreous to resinous luster.
