Mitoproteiinien, also known as mitochondrial proteins, are a vast group of proteins encoded by both nuclear and mitochondrial DNA. These proteins play critical roles in the cellular organelle known as the mitochondrion, which is primarily responsible for energy production through cellular respiration.
