Miljøprofilen is a term used in Danish and Norwegian discourse to denote the environmental profile of a subject—such as a person, company, product, or project. It refers to the aggregated set of environmental characteristics and impacts associated with that subject, typically presented to inform decision making, communication, and policy debates.

Components commonly included are greenhouse gas emissions (often expressed in CO2e), energy and water use, material efficiency, waste generation and recycling, land use and biodiversity impacts, and the environmental performance of the supply chain. The profile is usually established through life cycle assessment (LCA) methods and carbon footprint calculations, guided by international standards such as ISO 14040/14044 and frameworks like the GHG Protocol. Results are often disclosed in sustainability reports, product environmental declarations, labeling, or procurement documentation.

Applications include corporate sustainability reporting, investor and consumer transparency, product labeling, and policy or regulatory assessments. Companies may use environmental profiles to benchmark performance, set reduction targets, or compare options in procurement.

Limitations and criticisms include varying methodological choices (system boundaries, functional units), data quality gaps, and potential misinterpretation when comparing profiles across different sectors. As such, miljøprofilen should be considered as one of several tools for assessing environmental performance, rather than a single definitive metric.
