The small size of mikroszálakat means they have a very large surface area relative to their volume. This characteristic contributes to their exceptional absorbency and their ability to trap dirt and moisture. Their effectiveness stems from the fact that the split fibers create tiny hooks that grab onto dirt and grime.

Beyond cleaning, mikroszálakat are also incorporated into textiles for their softness, durability, and insulating properties. They are found in apparel, bedding, and upholstery. The fine nature of the fibers allows for lightweight yet warm fabrics, and they are often resistant to shrinking and stretching. The manufacturing process typically involves extruding molten plastic through a spinneret with many tiny holes to create the fine filaments, which are then processed into yarns and fabrics.
