Midmounted is an adjective describing something that is mounted in the middle of a vehicle, structure, or platform, typically between opposing ends or along the centerline. The term is widely used across industries to indicate central placement, often with implications for balance, accessibility, and overall design.

In automotive and motorsport contexts, a mid-mounted engine or transaxle is located between the front and rear axles. This arrangement can improve weight distribution and handling, shorten drivetrain length, and lower the vehicle’s polar moment of inertia. It also influences cabin design and cooling requirements, and can complicate accessibility for maintenance and servicing.

In agricultural and industrial machinery, mid-mounted configurations place the primary implement or deck between the front and rear axles.
