Mellúszás, also known as breaststroke, is a swimming stroke that is widely used in competitive swimming and is often taught as one of the first strokes to beginners. It is characterized by the swimmer's body being horizontal to the water's surface, with the head and torso above water, and the legs moving in a flutter kick. The arms move in a circular motion, with the hands entering the water simultaneously and pulling the body forward.
The breaststroke is named for its resemblance to the movement of a bird swimming on its breast.
