Matriisinäyttöjä, often referred to as dot matrix displays, are a type of electronic visual display. They are constructed using a matrix of small dots, or pixels, arranged in rows and columns. Each individual dot can be illuminated or left unlit to form characters, symbols, or images. Early forms of matriisinäyttöjä were commonly found in calculators and simple digital watches.

These displays operate by energizing specific points within the matrix. A common method involves using an array of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) or liquid crystal elements.
