Materialspesifikke refers to properties, behaviors, or phenomena that are specific to a particular material, as opposed to universal properties that apply across many materials. The concept emphasizes that many characteristics depend on chemical composition, crystal structure, microstructure, processing history, and operating conditions. Materialspesifikke properties therefore require material- and condition-specific data for accurate predictions.

Examples include mechanical properties such as yield strength, fracture toughness, and hardness; thermal properties like thermal conductivity and specific heat; electrical and magnetic properties such as resistivity and magnetization; and chemical and environmental properties such as corrosion resistance and oxidation rate. In addition, many properties are anisotropic or vary with temperature, strain rate, or aging, making them material-spesifikke.

In practice, determining these properties involves standardized testing, careful control of processing history, and reference data from material databases or literature. In simulations and design, materialspesifikke data feed constitutive models and property databases, enabling more reliable material selection and performance prediction. The term is more common in Scandinavian languages; in English literature the equivalent phrasing is material-specific properties or material-dependent properties.
