Maskindemping is the practice of reducing vibrations and noise in mechanical systems through the use of damping strategies and isolation techniques. Common applications span engine and pump mounts, machine tool spindles, HVAC equipment, powertrains, and construction machinery. Practices include installing elastomeric mounts or rubber pads, hydraulic or viscous dampers, and tuned mass dampers, as well as decoupling structures to isolate vibrations. Active damping is used in precision systems or where passive methods are insufficient.
