Mantksal is a fictional region and cultural concept used in speculative world-building. It refers to a coastal archipelago and its governing system, appearing in novels and role-playing settings as a representative maritime locale.

The name Mantksal is derived from the Mantk language, where "mant" means sea and "ksal" denotes land or harbor. The term is used to describe both the islands and their people.

Mantksal comprises about three dozen islands in a temperate ocean, featuring rugged coastlines, mangrove lagoons, and forested highlands. The climate is maritime, with mild winters and warm, wet summers.

Historically a trading hub, Mantksal developed a loose confederation of island communities by the 14th century. In modern fiction, it is portrayed as an autonomous region within a fictional federation, governed by a regional council elected by island and inland delegates.

The population is around 60,000. Mantk and Dialecta are commonly spoken, with additional minority languages on some islands. The culture emphasizes seafaring songs, basket weaving, and boat-building, alongside seasonal harvest rituals tied to the sea.

The economy centers on fishing, aquaculture, and crafts, with growing coastal tourism. Infrastructure includes ferries linking islands, a historic lighthouse on Rook Island, and a regional university.
