maapõhine

Maapõhine is Estonian for ground-based or terrestrial, referring to technologies, observations, or methods that operate on or near the Earth's surface. The term is used to distinguish such systems from those conducted in space or at higher altitudes. It is formed from maa (earth, ground) and põhine (based), and appears in various technical contexts as maapõhine seire, maapõhine radar, maapõhine sensorite võrk, or maapõhine uuring.

Maapõhine terminology is common across multiple fields. In meteorology and environmental monitoring, ground-based weather stations, radars, and sensor networks collect data close to the surface.
