Lítikus is a fictional language created by the Hungarian linguist and writer László Szilárd as part of his *Lítikus* series of books, which began with *Lítikus* (1997). The language is designed to be a constructed language (conlang) with a unique phonetic system, grammar, and vocabulary, blending elements of Hungarian, Latin, and other influences. It is intended as a tool for exploring linguistic theory and creativity, rather than for practical communication.

The name "Lítikus" itself is derived from the Latin word *litus*, meaning "shore" or "coast," combined with the Hungarian suffix *-ikus*, which often denotes a relationship or origin (similar to *-ic* in English). This reflects the series' themes of linguistic exploration and the idea of a language emerging from a coastal civilization.

Lítikus features a phonetic system that includes sounds not commonly found in many natural languages, such as clicks and complex consonant clusters. The works blend linguistic theory with speculative fiction, presenting Lítikus as a language spoken by an ancient coastal civilization that later declined, leaving behind only fragments of its linguistic heritage.
