A lézerrezonátor, or laser resonator, is a critical component of a laser. It is essentially an optical cavity formed by two or more mirrors placed around the laser medium. These mirrors are designed to reflect light back and forth through the medium, allowing for stimulated emission to amplify the light.

The primary function of the lézerrezonátor is to create positive feedback for the light. As light bounces between the mirrors, it passes through the laser medium multiple times. If the medium is "pumped" with energy, it can excite atoms or molecules that will then emit photons. When these emitted photons travel in the same direction as the light already in the cavity, they can stimulate other excited particles to emit identical photons, leading to an avalanche effect and a coherent beam of light.

The lézerrezonátor also plays a crucial role in determining the wavelength and directionality of the laser beam. The cavity is designed to resonate only at specific wavelengths that fit within the mirror configuration, effectively selecting a narrow range of frequencies. This selectivity, along with the reflective properties of the mirrors, helps to produce a highly collimated and monochromatic beam of light characteristic of a laser. One of the mirrors is typically partially transparent, allowing a portion of the amplified light to escape as the output laser beam.
