läsprogram

Läsprogram is a term used in Swedish higher education to denote the planned sequence of courses and activities that make up a degree program or a specific study track. It functions as the student’s study plan: it lists mandatory courses, recommended or elective courses, the intended progression, and the credit requirements needed to achieve the degree. A läsprogram typically specifies the total number of högskolepoäng (credits), the order of courses, and any compulsory projects, internships, language requirements, or thesis work. The content is designed to ensure coherence with learning outcomes, accreditation rules, and degree regulations, and it helps students plan their semesters and teachers to organize teaching and assessment.

Läsprograms can exist at different levels: bachelor’s, master’s, or professional programs, and may be offered with different tracks or specializations. In many universities, the program is created and maintained by the department or faculty and may be revised annually or per degree cycle; changes require approval by program committees or faculty boards. Students commonly access their läsprogram through the university’s student information system and use it in combination with a degree plan to monitor progress toward graduation.

The term is sometimes used interchangeably with studieplan or utbildningsplan depending on institutional practice. Not all institutions use the term; some use alternative names such as studiemal, curriculum, or curriculum plan.
