Lämpökuormatekijät refers to factors that contribute to the heat load in a building or an environment. Understanding these factors is crucial for designing efficient heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and for ensuring thermal comfort.

One significant category of lämpökuormatekijät is internal heat gains. These are generated from sources within the building itself. Common internal heat gains include heat emitted by occupants (people), lighting, and electrical equipment such as computers and appliances. The more people and electronic devices in a space, the higher the internal heat gain.

Another major contributor is solar heat gain, which enters through windows and other transparent surfaces. The intensity of sunlight, the angle of incidence, and the properties of the glazing (e.g., tinted or low-emissivity coatings) all influence the amount of solar heat that penetrates a building. Building orientation and shading devices also play a role in managing this type of heat load.

External heat gains, also known as transmission gains, occur when heat flows from the warmer outdoor environment into the cooler indoor environment through the building envelope. This includes heat transfer through walls, roofs, floors, and windows. Factors such as the insulation levels of these building components, the temperature difference between inside and outside, and the materials used significantly affect transmission heat gains.

Finally, infiltration and ventilation also contribute to the heat load. Infiltration is the uncontrolled leakage of outdoor air into a building through cracks and openings. Ventilation, whether natural or mechanical, involves the intentional exchange of indoor and outdoor air. When the outdoor air is warmer than the desired indoor temperature, both infiltration and ventilation introduce heat into the building, increasing the heat load that the HVAC system must counteract.
