luonnontilaisten
Luonnontilaisten is a Finnish term used to describe entities, landscapes or ecosystems that are in a natural state, meaning that human influence has been minimal or that ecological processes have remained largely unaltered. The word is formed from luonnontila (the natural state) with the suffix -inen to create an adjective, and -isten as the genitive plural ending. It commonly appears in phrases such as luontontilaisten elinympäristöjen suojelu (protection of habitats in a natural state) or luonnontilaisten maisemien säilyttäminen (preservation of wilderness landscapes).
In ecological and environmental policy contexts, luontontilaisten areas are associated with wilderness, ecological integrity and biodiversity.
