Losunar is a neologism used in discussions of calendars and timekeeping to describe a proposed hybrid system intended to align lunar months with the solar year. The term is a portmanteau of lunar and solar, and in practice refers to several speculative reform concepts rather than a single fixed scheme.

In typical losunar proposals, the year consists of twelve lunar months, each 29 or 30 days long, totaling about 354 days. To prevent drift with the solar year, some proposals insert an intercalary month on a scheduled cadence (for example every two or three years) or deploy a rule-based leap mechanism. Some variants propose imposing a fixed pattern of month lengths with occasional adjustments, while others allow variable-length months chosen to maintain alignment with the sun over longer cycles.

Usage and reception: The term is used mainly in theoretical discussions, hobbyist calendars, and in worldbuilding for fiction and gaming. It lacks formal adoption by civil authorities and has no universal standard.
