Losloos is a small village located in the Walloon region of Belgium, forming part of the municipality of Profondeville in the province of Namur. The settlement lies on the southeastern edge of the Meuse River valley, at an elevation of approximately 120 metres, and is surrounded by mixed farmland and forested areas typical of the Condroz landscape.

The name Losloos is first recorded in medieval documents dating from the early 13th century, where it appears as “Loslous” in a charter concerning the local seigniory. Historically the village was part of the Duchy of Luxembourg before being incorporated into the Prince‑bishopric of Liège and later the French Republic during the Revolutionary period. The population remained largely agrarian, with smallholder farming and dairy production dominating the local economy through the Middle Ages and into the modern era.

In the 19th and early 20th centuries, Losloos experienced limited industrial development, primarily related to timber processing and modest quarrying of the region’s limestone. After World War II, the village saw a gradual shift toward residential use, as improved transport links—particularly the nearby N4 road—enabled commuting to larger towns such as Namur and Charleroi.

As of the most recent census, Losloos has an estimated 530 inhabitants, the majority of whom are French‑speaking Belgians. The village centre includes the 17th‑century Saint‑Martin Church, a modest stone structure with a Baroque altar, and a communal square that hosts annual festivals celebrating regional traditions. Local amenities comprise a primary school, a community hall, and a small grocery shop, while larger commercial and medical services are accessed in Profondeville. Losloos retains a reputation for a quiet, rural lifestyle within close proximity to the cultural and economic centres of Wallonia.
