Loftræstingarkerfi, or ventilation systems, are essential for maintaining healthy indoor air quality and comfortable living or working environments. These systems are designed to exchange stale indoor air with fresh outdoor air, removing pollutants such as carbon dioxide, moisture, allergens, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

There are several types of ventilation systems, broadly categorized as natural, mechanical, and hybrid. Natural ventilation relies on passive air movement driven by wind pressure and temperature differences, often through operable windows and vents. ERVs do the same but also transfer moisture, which can be beneficial in humid or very dry climates.

Properly designed and maintained ventilation systems are crucial for preventing issues like mold growth, condensation, and the buildup of harmful indoor pollutants, contributing to occupant well-being and the longevity of buildings. Regular inspection and cleaning of filters and components are recommended to ensure optimal performance and air quality.
