Lnning refers to a process in the manufacturing of printed circuit boards (PCBs). It is the step where the unwanted copper is removed from the laminate material, leaving behind the desired circuit traces and pads. This is typically achieved through a chemical etching process.

In PCB manufacturing, a copper-clad laminate is coated with a photoresist material. A pattern representing the desired circuit is then exposed onto the photoresist using UV light and a mask. The exposed or unexposed photoresist (depending on the type of resist used) is then developed, creating a protective layer over the intended copper circuitry.

The board is then immersed in an etching solution, usually a mixture of chemicals like ferric chloride or ammonium persulfate. This solution dissolves the exposed copper that is not protected by the photoresist. Once the etching is complete, the remaining photoresist is stripped away, revealing the finished copper traces and pads. The term "lnning" is a less common but sometimes used descriptor for this crucial etching stage in PCB production. This process is fundamental to creating the conductive pathways that enable the electronic components on a PCB to function.
