Lisäkromosomeinaan is a term that refers to the presence of extra chromosomes in an organism. This condition is a type of aneuploidy, which is a deviation from the normal number of chromosomes. In humans, a typical individual has 23 pairs of chromosomes, totaling 46. If an individual has more than the standard number of chromosomes, it is considered lisäkromosomeinaan.

The occurrence of lisäkromosomeinaan can arise from errors during cell division, specifically meiosis, the process that produces gametes (sperm and egg cells). When chromosomes fail to separate properly during meiosis, the resulting gametes may have an extra chromosome. If such a gamete is involved in fertilization, the resulting zygote will have an extra chromosome in all of its cells.
