lintang

Lintang is a term in Indonesian and Malay that primarily denotes latitude, the geographic coordinate indicating a location's position north or south of the equator. The lines of latitude are commonly referred to as garis lintang. Latitudes are expressed in degrees north or south (for example, 6° N or 6° S) and can also be shown in decimal form. The reference line at 0° lintang is the equator, known in Indonesian as garis khatulistiwa.
