Line ID, often written as LineID, refers to the unique user identifier used by the LINE messaging platform. It is a handle chosen by the user that can be used to locate and add someone as a friend on LINE. Unlike a phone number, a Line ID remains constant across devices and can be shared to facilitate friend discovery.

Line IDs are typically a string of letters and numbers and may include underscores; the exact rules depend on the app version and region. A user can be found by entering the Line ID in the app’s Find Friends or Add by ID feature. Official LINE accounts (business or public accounts) often use IDs that begin with the @ symbol, such as @company.

Privacy and safety: Since a Line ID can be used to locate and contact someone, users should share it selectively and use LINE’s privacy settings to control who can find or add them by ID. If privacy concerns arise, a user may limit discovery by ID, requiring other methods to connect instead.

Management: The Line ID is displayed in the user’s profile and can be changed in Settings or Profile, subject to any platform restrictions in effect at the time. Changing a Line ID can affect how others find the user, so it is typically done with consideration.
