Lightharming is a term used in security and maritime safety contexts to describe deliberate actions that damage, disable, or degrade the operation of lighthouse and other navigational lighting and signaling infrastructure. The concept encompasses physical attacks on structures, tampering with power supplies or control systems, vandalism of optics, and interference with automated or electronic aids to navigation. While lightharming can draw attention as a dramatic form of disruption, its underlying concern is the risk it poses to vessel safety and coastal infrastructure.

Common forms of lightharming include vandalism or arson against lighthouse towers, damage to lens systems or lighting apparatus, tampering with electrical, solar, or backup power sources, and interference with control or monitoring equipment. In modern networks, threats can extend to hacking into remote monitoring, altering beacon settings, or disrupting communications and data feeds that support navigation.
