Liesimällasi is a Finnish term that translates loosely to "firewood shed" or "wood-burning oven shed." It refers to a small, typically unheated outbuilding or lean-to structure designed for storing firewood and often housing a wood-burning oven or stove. These structures are commonly found in rural or traditional Finnish homes, particularly in areas where wood is a primary heating fuel.

The primary function of a liesimällasi is to keep firewood dry and protected from the elements. Damp firewood burns inefficiently, producing less heat and more smoke. By storing wood in a covered space, it can season properly, ensuring optimal combustion when needed. The shed also provides a convenient place to stack firewood close to the house, reducing the effort required to bring it indoors.

In many traditional Finnish homesteads, the liesimällasi also contained a separate wood-burning oven or stove.
