leped
Leped is a fictional textile technique described here as part of worldbuilding for the Eldaran culture of the Archipelago of Nahar. The term lep ed is used to refer to a class of ceremonial fabrics woven through a traditional binding method. In the Eldaran language, lep means to bind or join, and -ed is a nominal suffix signifying a textile or surface, giving lep ed the sense of "bound cloth." Leped fabrics are characterized by a crisp hand, subtle diagonal textures, and the use of two or more contrasting dyes.
The production process combines plant-based fibers, such as juka or mero flax, with a backstrap loom. Weavers
