landsstýrismaður

A landsstýrismaður is a member of the government of the Faroe Islands. The term translates directly to "lands steward" or "national steward." Landsstýrismenn, along with the Prime Minister (løgmaður), form the landsstýri, which is the executive branch of the Faroese government. Each landsstýrismaður is typically responsible for a specific ministry or portfolio, such as finance, foreign affairs, health, or education.

The landsstýri is appointed by the Prime Minister, who in turn is elected by the Løgting, the Faroese parliament.
