Laakeriyksiköihin literally translates from Finnish as “bearing units.” In mechanical engineering, a bearing unit is a pre-assembled component that incorporates one or more bearings with additional structural elements such as housings, seals, lubrication systems, and sometimes alignment or mounting features. These units are designed for easy installation and reliable performance in machinery and industrial equipment.

Typical bearing units include radial roller bearings, tapered roller bearings, spherical roller bearings, cylindrical roller bearings, and spherical roller thrust bearings. Some units also provide built‑in seals to prevent ingress of contaminants and to retain lubricant, while others feature grease cartridges or integrated lubrication delivery systems. Construction materials vary from stainless steel to specialty alloys to meet specific temperature and load requirements. The housing often incorporates counterbores for shaft insertion and can include bushings or snap‑fit attachment points for rapid deployment on machines such as conveyor systems, pumps, drills, and CNC machines.

Using bearing units enhances component reliability and reduces maintenance downtime.
