Kütusesöötmine refers to the process of delivering fuel to an internal combustion engine. This mechanism is crucial for the engine's operation, as it precisely mixes fuel with air before ignition. The method of kütusesöötmine has evolved significantly over time, moving from simpler mechanical systems to more complex electronic ones.

In older engines, kütusesöötmine was often achieved through carburetors. A carburetor is a mechanical device that mixes air and fuel in the correct ratio by using the Venturi effect. As air passes through a constricted section of the carburetor, its speed increases, causing a drop in pressure. This pressure difference draws fuel from a jet into the airstream, where it is atomized and mixed.

Modern engines predominantly utilize fuel injection systems for kütusesöötmine. Fuel injection delivers fuel directly into the intake manifold or the combustion chamber itself. Electronic fuel injection (EFI) systems are controlled by an engine control unit (ECU), which uses sensors to monitor various engine parameters such as air temperature, engine speed, throttle position, and oxygen levels.
