Kvantiseerimisväärtus refers to a fundamental concept in digital signal processing and quantum mechanics. In essence, it represents the smallest possible unit or increment by which a value can change.

In digital signal processing, quantisation is the process of mapping a continuous range of values to a smaller, finite set of discrete values. The quantisation value, often denoted by Δq, is the difference between adjacent discrete levels. A smaller quantisation value leads to a more accurate representation of the original analog signal, but also increases the amount of data required. For example, in digital audio, the bit depth determines the quantisation value. A higher bit depth means more discrete levels and thus a smaller quantisation value, resulting in higher fidelity sound.

In quantum mechanics, quantisation signifies that certain physical properties, such as energy levels in an atom or the angular momentum of a particle, can only take on discrete, specific values rather than any continuous value. These allowed values are determined by quantum mechanical laws and are often multiples of a fundamental constant, like Planck's constant. The energy levels of an electron in an atom are a classic example of quantisation, where electrons can only occupy specific orbits with corresponding discrete energy values. When an electron transitions between these levels, it emits or absorbs a photon with an energy equal to the difference between the energy levels, which is also quantised. This phenomenon is the basis of spectroscopy.
