Kuulonkehityksen refers to the process of hearing development. This complex biological process begins early in fetal development and continues through infancy and childhood, playing a crucial role in communication, learning, and social interaction.

In utero, the auditory system starts to form around the 18th week of gestation. While the inner ear structures are developed, the ear canal is typically filled with fluid, limiting the sound quality a fetus hears.
