kuulemiaan

In standard Finnish, the clearest and most common forms related to this idea are kuulemani and kuulemiensa, as in sen kuulemani mukaan or sen kuulemiensa mukaan, which translate roughly to “to my knowledge” or “according to what I have heard.” The form kuulemiaan is not widely used as a standalone participial form in everyday Finnish, and when it does occur it is typically treated as a nonstandard variant rather than part of standard grammar.

Etymology and morphology: kuulla means “to hear.” A nominal or participial derivation around kuulla yields forms that convey content heard by someone. The commonly cited constructions attach possessive or plural markers to indicate who heard the content (for example, my hearing, what we have heard). The canonical, widely accepted variants are kuulemani (what I have heard) and kuulemiensa mukaan (according to what they have heard). Kuulemiaan, when encountered, is usually described in reference works as a historical or nonstandard form rather than a core part of modern Finnish.

Usage: In practice, speakers use kuulemani and kuulemiensa values to attribute statements to others and to hedge claims with second-hand sourcing. Writers employ these forms to convey reported information without asserting direct personal knowledge.
