Kuubse is a small rural settlement located within the administrative boundaries of Lääne-Viru County in northern Estonia. The village falls under the jurisdiction of Vinni Parish and is situated approximately 12 kilometres southeast of the county seat, Rakvere. As of the most recent census, Kuubse has a population of around 120 residents, the majority of whom are engaged in agricultural activities or commute to nearby towns for employment.

The history of Kuubse can be traced back to the early 14th century, when the area was first noted in the Domesday-like documents of the Teutonic Order. Archaeological evidence suggests that a fortified manor house was constructed in the late Middle Ages, a structure that played a role in regional defense during the Livonian Wars. Although the manor no longer stands in its original form, its foundations have been preserved as a protected heritage monument.

Geographically, Kuubse is surrounded by mixed forest and small-scale arable fields, with the Lõhavere River flowing just to the west. The landscape has historically supported dairy and crop farming, and in recent years, small-scale organic agriculture has gained popularity among local producers. The village also features a community centre that hosts cultural events and serves as a hub for local civic activities.

The local economy remains largely agrarian, supplemented by seasonal tourism drawn by visitors to the nearby historical sites and natural parks. A modest guesthouse operates within the village, offering accommodations that highlight local cuisine and traditional Estonian hospitality. Public transport links include a regional bus service that connects Kuubse with Rakvere and other nearby settlements.
