Kurkumiini is the principal curcuminoid found in turmeric, a spice derived from the plant Curcuma longa. It is responsible for the yellow-orange color of turmeric. Chemically, kurkumiini is a diarylheptanoid, a type of polyphenol. It is composed of two aromatic rings joined by a seven-carbon chain.
