Krioprecipitát, also known as cryoprecipitate, is a blood product derived from human plasma. It is obtained by freezing plasma and then thawing it at a controlled, low temperature. As the plasma thaws, certain proteins, primarily fibrinogen, fibronectin, and von Willebrand factor, become insoluble and precipitate out. This precipitate is then collected and refrozen for therapeutic use.

Cryoprecipitate is rich in clotting factors that are crucial for hemostasis. Its primary indications for use include the treatment of bleeding disorders characterized by a deficiency in these specific proteins. For example, it is used to manage hypofibrinogenemia, a condition where there is an abnormally low level of fibrinogen in the blood, often seen in patients with disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) or severe liver disease. It is also utilized in cases of von Willebrand disease and hemophilia A when specific factor concentrates are unavailable or insufficient.

The preparation of cryoprecipitate requires careful temperature control during the freezing and thawing process to maximize the yield of the desired clotting factors. It is administered intravenously to patients needing to replenish these deficient proteins and restore normal blood clotting function. Like all blood products, cryoprecipitate carries a risk of transfusion reactions and transmission of infectious agents, although these risks are significantly reduced due to rigorous screening and processing methods.
