Secondary causes of ear pain are numerous. Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, affecting the jaw joint, are a frequent source of referred ear pain. Dental problems, such as cavities, abscesses, or impacted wisdom teeth, can also radiate pain to the ear. Throat infections like pharyngitis or tonsillitis, and even conditions affecting the neck, such as muscle strain or arthritis, can present with ear pain. Neurological conditions like trigeminal neuralgia or glossopharyngeal neuralgia can also cause significant ear pain.

Diagnosis of the cause of korvakipu typically involves a medical history, a physical examination of the ear and surrounding structures, and sometimes further investigations such as audiometry or imaging. Treatment depends entirely on the underlying cause, ranging from simple ear drops for infection or wax removal to more complex medical or surgical interventions for other conditions.
