Korsplydäck, often referred to as cross-laminated timber (CLT) in English, is a modern engineered wood product made from layers of kiln-dried lumber glued together. The defining characteristic of korsplydäck is that the grain of each successive layer is oriented perpendicular to the grain of the layer beneath it. This cross-lamination process results in a material that is remarkably strong, stable, and rigid.

The manufacturing process typically involves planing and grading lumber, which is then glued together in alternating perpendicular layers under pressure and heat. The resulting panels can be manufactured in large dimensions, making them suitable for a variety of structural applications. Korsplydäck is increasingly used in the construction of walls, floors, and roofs, offering an alternative to traditional materials like concrete and steel.

Its advantages include a lower environmental impact compared to some other building materials, as wood sequesters carbon. It also offers good thermal insulation properties and can contribute to faster construction times due to prefabrication possibilities. The stability of korsplydäck means it has excellent load-bearing capacity and can be used in multi-story buildings.
