Korpukset are a fictional species of small, intelligent, nocturnal birds that appear in Nordic folklore and contemporary fantasy works. The name derives from the Finnish korppi, meaning crow, with the diminutive suffix -set, reflecting their reputedly smaller size compared with true crows. In many accounts they are described as wardens of knowledge and winter messengers.

They measure about 25–30 cm in length, with glossy black plumage showing iridescent blue or green highlights. They have slender beaks, rounded heads, and keen amber or pale-blue eyes. Their wings are compact, enabling quiet flight, and their tails are slightly graduated in display.

Korpukset are said to inhabit boreal forests, marshy edges, and rocky uplands in northern myths and fiction, often near ancient ruins or sacred groves. They prefer twilight and winter landscapes where snow muffles sound.

They are omnivorous, feeding on insects, seeds, berries, and small vertebrates; in some stories they are depicted as highly intelligent, using simple tools or solving problems. They communicate with a repertoire of whistles, croaks, and clicks.

Nests are placed high in hollow trees or cliff ledges. They usually lay two to four eggs, with occasional cooperative breeding in folklore; both parents and sometimes older offspring help rear the young.

In fantasy ecosystems, they can act as seed dispersers and controllers of small prey. In folklore they are symbols of memory, knowledge, and transitions between seasons.
