Koostootmine, also known as combined heat and power (CHP) or cogeneration, is an industrial process that simultaneously generates both electricity and useful heat from a single fuel source. This integrated approach significantly improves overall energy efficiency compared to producing electricity and heat separately. In a typical scenario, a fuel such as natural gas, biomass, or waste heat is combusted to drive a turbine or engine, which in turn generates electricity.
