Kontrolliparametri is the Estonian term for a control parameter: a numeric value that determines how a control system responds to deviations between a desired reference and the actual output. It is a design variable of the controller and is distinct from the parameters describing the plant or process being controlled.

In engineering, common examples include the gains in a PID controller, typically denoted Kp, Ki, and Kd, and in state-feedback or model predictive control, gain matrices or weighting factors serve as kontrolliparametrid. They may be fixed or time-varying, depending on operating conditions.

Kontrolliparametrid are chosen to achieve objectives such as stability, fast settling, minimal overshoot, and accurate tracking. Tuning methods include analytical design, empirical rules like Ziegler-Nichols or Cohen-Coon, and optimization or adaptive schemes that adjust values during operation.

The choice of kontrolliparametrid influences stability margins, transient response, and actuator effort. Poor tuning can lead to oscillations, instability, or saturation of actuators. In addition to traditional control engineering, the concept also appears in software and simulations where algorithms or automation logic expose controllable settings as kontrolliparametrid.
